One would think Davidson coach Bob McKillop would have been very happy after his team won their third straight SoCon Championship. However, in a post game press conference, one question really fired ole’ Bob up:
When asked about the tournament moving to Chattanooga next season, Coach McKillop was very candid: “I feel the tournament was meant to be a level playing field. Teams earn their seeds during the season, but with a neutral court, it gives all a chance. By the Chattanooga Sports Commission bidding $125,000 and then playing it at the home court of the Mocs, it creates a unfair advantage. So next year I’ll take two $90,000 guarantee games and we’ll bid $180,00 and have it in Belk Arena in two years.” Can one blame Coach? If we are going to reward home court advantage, why not do it for the best regular season team? If your not, then its all about the money.
